Look out for flying fishnets this summer on Jack Johnson's tour.Bureo has teamed up with Jack to launch the first Frisbee made from recycled fishing nets!

During the release of Bureo’s first skateboard (circa 2014), Bureo volunteered with Save The Waves at Jack Johnson’s concert in Santiago, Chile. After sharing an early production Minnow skateboard with Jack, he became one of the first riders, and has been an advocate for Bureo’s development ever since.

Since then, the Bureo team has had the opportunity to work the Johnson's Kokua Hawai’i Foundation [a non-profit organization that supports environmental education in the schools and communities of Hawaiʻi]. Through KHF programs, Bureo has connected with over 3,000 students. Providing an example to the youth – this connection has also included a few large scale beach clean-ups.

Bureo joined over 400 volunteers [including a few decent surfers!] to help remove over 3,900 pounds from Kahuku Beach in 2015

For summer 2017, Bureo will launch the Fishnet Flyer Frisbee in partnership with Jack’s summer tour. Jack and his production team have paved the way in green touring practices, with extensive sustainability programs at every show in order to help minimize the environmental impact. This includes promoting water refill stations to reduce single use plastic, carpooling to reduce fuel consumption, recycling and more! All of Jack’s tour merchandise is made from sustainable materials with a focus on reusables and renewables.

Bureo’s recycling workshops in Chile have been running at full capacity all year, leading to a stockpile of various discarded fishnets  – which need to be separated out by each different type of materials. This led to a growing amount of green nets which became the base material for the new Fishnet Flyer. Providing a solution to keep another type of fishing net out of the water, and off the ground, the new Fishnet Flyers are proudly made in California.

The Jack Johnson Fishnet Flyer will be available at the merch booth for all of Jack’s 2017 Summer Tour stops

The Fishnet Flyer from Bureo marks the first release for Bureo’s NetPlus materials, a growing initiative to showcase new recycling capabilities and partnerships to utilize recycled fishing nets. Bureo’s expanding efforts will feature a collection of new product offerings and partnerships to be released during 2017 – Stay Tuned!
